meet the founder

Atara Horrigan’s passion for yoga began from the ground up. In the face of a social structure unable to supply necessary support for her nervous system as a highly sensitive creative person, she flew from Fairfield, Connecticut, to Fairfield Iowa to attend Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment at age 17. There she was formally trained in transcendental meditation, the neuroscience of human consciousness, and experimental music, in addition to normal high school curriculum. At 19, she studied with Naada Yoga teacher Shyamji Bhataangar where she learned about balancing the chakra system with mantras, pranayama, sadhana, and ancient purification protocols. Her lifelong love of singing and composing original music evolved when she received her 200hr yoga teacher training certification at breathing room yoga studio in New Haven CT in 2022. From there, she began to incorporate music, mantras, and sound healing with her yoga, and employ techniques to relax and refresh her clients using the power of sound and vibration. When she began martial arts around the same time she received her yoga training, she developed a passion for sharing yoga with athletes. She now lives in Westport Connecticut where she teaches yoga, studies Brazilian Ju Jitsu, makes music, and spends time in nature.
